Every couple wants beautiful and timeless images from their wedding! Who wants a bunch of crappy, camera phone photos blown up to 16x20 prints? NO ONE!!! Follow these basic 5 Tips for Great Wedding Photos.
1. Engagement Photos Are a MUST!
Yup! Even if you don't want them... DO THEM. They allow you and your wedding photographer to interact with each other, get to understand how things will flow on your wedding day and start to build TRUST with this creative artist you have hired to document a once in a life time event!
2. Trust Your Photographer!
Understanding that your wedding images are going to be the sole thing you have left after your wedding means that you have hired a professional! I mean look their images are featured in dozens of wedding magazines for a reason... they know what they are doing. Think of it as if the photographer came to your work for ONE DAY and told you how to do your job, ya not such a great idea!
3. Background Before Details
Everyone loves the cute details at weddings. The center pieces, the little pine cone napkin rings, the flowing floral on the sweetheart table, you love them, your guests love them and your photographer loves them BUT... Think about your background of your ceremony and your reception. This is what the world will see in your wedding images and it can't really be changed after the fact. Not saying don't have lots of details, but think about your background before details if you want amazing wedding images.
4. Dreamy Photographs Require TIME!
You're working on your must have photo shot list, you have grandma, auntie, BFF, and the list goes on! That is awesome, we want to capture all those friends and family at your wedding, just allow enough time! Formals can take up to ONE HOUR just for friends and family images. Lots of joking around from the groomsmen eat up time, Uncle Tom taking photos over the photographers shoulder causes your expensive wedding photographer to have to reshoot the shot as Grandma was looking at Uncle Tom and not your expensive photographer..eating up more time, your friend from New York flew in and wants to give you the happy couple speech during formal photos... eating up time. The more time that is spent on formals the less time for the couple (unless you do a first look.. which I HIGHLY RECOMMEND).
5. Do a First Look!
I know I know your mom and dad didn't see each other until the ceremony! But if you want amazing wedding images, you want a first look. Your hair and make up are PERFECT! If you wait until after the ceremony, and after all the family formals, you're going to be hot, sweaty, and in need of FOOD (meaning GRUMPY) and all those factors will show up in your amazing wedding images you paid for... Do a FIRST LOOK, have amazing images, and get back to your wedding faster as you won't have to spend as much time taking photos after the ceremony. BOOM MIC DROP!
